Jay's Trek To Tierra del Fuego

Day 89, January 29, 1997
"No Name Town" to Rio Grande, Argentina

Great sleep, but I was rudely awoken by more loud agressive snorting. I could see his enormous shaddow in the morning sun. He then proceeded to attack my defenseless house, he was wrecking it. I waited till he went around the back to I could get out safely. There he was, four feet away, prickly skin, slobering and staring right at me with those black sunken beady eyes. One step forward and BOOM! He met an overhand motocross boot to the forehead.

He wandered away, but not far. It was time get up anyhow. Near by he chewed on a plastic pop bottle and munched on some garbage while I packed up, always watching each other from the corner of our eyes. We both realized it was a draw, one for one. I treated him to a bannana peel before I rode off.

The next 850 kms to Rio Grande, Tierra Del Fuego was nothing short of.........I dont know what, it was awful. The rain, wind and cold was relentless. 350kms was mud, potholes and cars showering me with rocks. I could`nt go any further. Splurged on a $15 hotel room, with hot water and a gas heater to dry my things.
